Episode - Why are legumes not part of an AIP or Paleo diet?

Q & A EPISODE

Why are legumes not part of an AIP or Paleo diet?

Legumes are a good source of vegetarian protein and contain many beneficial nutrients. Unfortunately, they also have compounds that can interfere with intestinal permeability and nutrient absorption, which is why they’re excluded from a strict AIP or paleo diet.

While some people can get away with eating legumes, I prefer a more conservative approach in my recommendations to people with Graves’ Disease and Hashimoto’s.

Today I’m talking about legumes and your gut health, my approach to reintroducing them into the diet, and how to prepare them to reduce their negative impact.

During this episode, you’ll learn about:

  • Why legumes are excluded from a standard AIP diet
  • Health benefits and risks associated with eating legumes
  • Reintroducing legumes into your diet
  • Key considerations for vegetarians
  • Why I recommend starting with a stricter diet before reintroducing legumes
  • How to properly prepare legumes

As always, I hope you’ve found this episode valuable, and I look forward to catching you in the next episode!
